iPad

The iPad has generated significant Internet Hype and I think a post, detailing the iPad’s feature up to now is needed.

The Technical Aspect
The iPad has a 9.7-inch LED (backlit) multi-touch display with a resolution of 1024×768 (4:3 aspect ratio), 16 – 64 gigabytes of flash memory, a 1-gigahertz (GHz) Apple A4 processor (built in POWERVR SGX GPU), Bluetooth 2.1, an accelerometer and a 30-pin dock connector to sync with iTunes and connect wired accessories

The iPad comes in two flavours – 3G and Wifi. The Wifi is released early April (04.03.2010) and the 3G version is releasing near the end of the month. AT&T is offering a $29.99 plan for “unlimited” data

The Historical Aspect
The iPad, announced on January 27th, 2010 is a spiritual successor to the Newton MessagePad 100

The Accessories
The following official accessories will be available from Apple (in May):

Keyboard Dock with hardware keyboard, 30-pin connector, and audio jack
Case which can be used to stand the iPad in various positions
Dock with 30-pin connector and audio jack
Dock Connector to VGA Adapter for external monitor or projector
Camera Connection Kit including a USB Type A connector adapter and an SD card reader, for transferring photos and videos
USB Power Adapter with 2A (10W)

The Software Aspect
The iPad will be running on a modified iPhone OS (3.2). The iPad will come with the following applications: Safari, Mail, Photos, Video, YouTube, iPod, iTunes Store, App Store, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Contacts, and Spotlight. iWork is also available for the iPad

Fad or Future
Is the iPad, just a Fad or is there a future to it? Personally I think the future is behind mobile (and later cloudless computing). But for now only time will tell
