iPad’s GPU weakness?

by William

Steve Jobs has recently attacked Adobe, citing that its flash is lackluster software. Not a few days ago, Steve Jobs claimed that if Flash was on the iPad — the iPad would only last an hour and a half. This could mean two things: either the 10 hour battery life promise is Rubbish or the iPad’s A4 SoC [System-on-Chip] would run the ARM Cortex-A9 at 100% all the time. According to App developers the A4 has issues supporting OpenES 2.0 AND is to weak to support the iPad at full resolution. Apple is not the first to have faced this problem:Qualcomm, Texas Instruments and nVidia faced the same problem, and solved that problem by working with Adobe on GPU acceleration. Flash is approximately 86% of the web and 90% of all flash videos. In Apple’s case: attack is the best way of defense
