As its now in the majority of the jailbreak scene, Apple is using ECID “Exclusive Chip ID” to prevent the downgrading of firmware. With iPhone OS 4.0 coming out, you might want to get the ECID SHSH from your iPad, just so you can downgrade if necessary

Step 1
Download AutoSHSH

Step 2
Put your iPad into Recovery Mode. Press and hold the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button at the same time. Continue holding the both buttons until your iTunes pops up a message telling you that it has detected an iPad in recovery mode

Step 3
a) Run AutoSHSH.
b) If you have Java runtime, click yes. If you don’t get it and then click yes
c) On the next window, hit the big Grab my SHSH Blobs Automatically button
d) pick your folder
